Organisation streamlines operations by transforming executive
Georgia Cribb, Director, NETS Victoria attended the Intensive Management Program and describes her experience as "completely immersive" and "thoroughly rewarding." Through her personal transformation her organisation has streamlined its operations.
The program educates participants on the topics of marketing, finance, operations and people management.
Executives are removed from their daily work environments and learn how to extend their managerial depth so they can take an integrated approach to strategic and operational issues.
"Living on campus at Mt Eliza removed me from my context and daily work routine. This gave me the opportunity to gain new skills which would not have been possible in a non-residential environment," she said.
For an entire week I worked alongside functional and specialist managers from organisations around Australia and overseas."
The Intensive Management Program is facilitated over six days and uses innovative learning methods to embed new learning. Participants acquire practical skills, tools and strategies explains Georgia.
"I have an array of new strategies and skills that will have a significant impact on the operations of my organisation. The program format, comprising of four key learning areas, included syndicate projects, discussion groups and feedback mechanisms. Lecturers used intriguing and evocative real life examples-some internationally renowned and others from their own professional experiences in industry," she said.
Georgia found that the program changed the way that she manages people resulting in further benefits to her organisation.
"The program provided me with a framework in which to re-examine our organisation's operations. NETS Victoria creates access to outstanding contemporary art craft and design for communities in regional Victoria. A greater understanding of my leadership style and enhanced techniques for people management will enable our organisation to work effectively together to implement our strategic plan," she said.
"I can now effectively assess our processes and areas of operations with a view to increasing efficiency and creative output. Together our team will refine and strengthen our organisation's position within the sector," she said.
The program also provided new techniques for Georgia to articulate her financial goals and successes to key stakeholders. This, combined with the opportunity to benchmark her own experiences against those from other industries, she anticipates will have an enormous impact on her organisation.
"I have learned invaluable methods which will be vital in reporting to my key stakeholders. Undertaking the program was a highly rewarding experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to build relationships and benchmark my own experiences and skills against those in other industries. This opportunity will have enormous impact both on our organisation and my professional activities over the coming years."
Georgia participated in the program supported through a scholarship from the Australia Business Arts Foundation and the Margaret Lawrence Bequest.
