Program brings clarity to management style
Damien Hodgkinson, Manager, AbaF Victoria attended the Leadership Development Program (LDP) supported through a scholarship from the Australia Business Arts Foundation and the Margaret Lawrence Bequest. He describes his experience as a "career highlight" which brought clarity to his management style and increased the impact he has on others.
A common challenge for senior managers today is to find ways of moving their organisation forward while improving organisational results. Senior managers are looking for ways to motivate their organisational teams toward achieving shared objectives. There is where the LDP is so beneficial.
The program helps participants understand that the first place to look in confronting these challenges is at yourself and your leadership style. The LDP is a structured self-development program which enables you as a senior manager to gain a high degree of self awareness around your leadership capability and the resultant impact on the business.
"Participating in the LDP was a career highlight. Spending time reflecting on my management style, my impact on others and specific areas for development has enabled me to better understand my capabilities and distil my attitudes to leadership. The program structure was faultless and facilitators, coaches and other participants provided excellent stimulus for learning," said Damien.
The intensive five day residential program is held at Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula - an ideal location for reflecting while interacting with peers from diverse industries and backgrounds.
"The program had 23 other participants from a broad range of backgrounds, industries and countries. I found it inspiring and enlightening to interact with them. Mt Eliza Executive Education provided a beautiful, unique and ideal setting for my learning experience," he said.
Damien's background brought unique insights into the LDP learning forum. As the only participant representing a not for profit organisation he added an alternate perspective to the group. This exemplifies the diversity that is represented on Mt Eliza programs which makes the learning experience so enriching.
"I and other participants benefited greatly from further understanding about our industries, organisations and cultures. The program provided an invaluable development opportunity."
The LDP is developed by the No. 1 provider of leadership programs in the United States, Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®). Mt Eliza Executive Education has exclusive rights to conduct the LDP in Australia and New Zealand.
